Linden, n.J., man arrested, charged with distributing child pornography

NEWARK, N.J. – A Linden, N.J., long-haul truck driver was arrested by federal agents at his home this morning and charged with distributing child pornography, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.
Richard Dabrowski, 45, was charged by Complaint with one count of distribution of child pornography. Dabrowski is scheduled to make his initial appearance today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Patty Shwartz in Newark federal court.
According to the Complaint:
As early as April 17, 2011, Dabrowski downloaded and distributed videos and images of child pornography on the Internet via peer-to-peer file sharing software, through which others had access to the material in shared directories. The videos and images downloaded by federal investigators from Dabrowski’s shared directories included photographs of prepubescent children engaging in sexual activity and being sexually abused.
The count of distributing child pornography with which Dabrowski is charged is punishable by a maximum potential penalty of 20 years in prison, a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison, and a $250,000 fine.
U.S. Attorney Fishman credited special agents of the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Andrew M. McLees in Newark, with the investigation leading to today’s arrest.
The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel V. Shapiro of the U.S. Attorney’s Office General Crimes Unit in Newark.
The charges and allegations contained in the Complaint are merely accusations, and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty.
